I made it through some more images from this year’s North American Indian Days and thought I would post a few. For those who aren’t familiar with this celebration, it’s held once a year in Browning, Montana…
Every year during the second week of July for four days, the town of Browning becomes a huge celebration of dance, color, and an amazing display of Blackfeet tradition.
It’s one of the largest gatherings of US and Canadian tribes held in the United States and a truly unique experience. Tipis are set up all around the grounds where there is dancing, drumming, and singing day and night.
There is also a parade they hold on one of the days and a rodeo as well. This year they also started a deal called “Running of the Horses”, where they drove three hundred horses right down main street in Browning. Sounds unbelievable and I was sad to not be able to see it.
Fellow Montana photographer Tony Bynum has a shot up on his blog you should see. If they do it again next year I will definitely make sure to be there.
Good website! I really love how it is easy on my eyes and the data are well written. I am wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I have subscribed to your feed which must do the trick! Have a nice day!
