Well finally back and settled after a little shooting spree. I went over to Lincoln this morning, but the weather had turned sour and not really wanting to hang around in the pits with some slushy muck, I opted to go explore some backroads into the hills south of Lincoln…
Man do they have snow. I haven’t seen this much snow up there in a long time. As for my side trip, it was a bust.
I had one of those days where I only snapped off a few shots just for the sake of snapping a few shots. But I suppose you have to have those days ever now and then to appreciate the good ones.
I have included some more pics from the race and hope you enjoy. I had fun trying to come up with some different angles and again some motion blur.
Also really appreciated Canon’s al servo mode. I was shooting primarily on a 1dmkIIn and the tracking on that camera is superb. I was also shooting on a 5d.Tracking on that-not superb. I used that for the couple motion blur shots I got.
All in all it was a fun excuse to get out of the house and watch the different teams compete. There really is a diverse group of Mushers and they come from all over the US. I was shooting this event a few years ago when they even had a blind women competing. Totally amazing.
If you ever have the chance to go see the Mushers and their dogs, I would highly encourage it. It really sets the tone for what a Montana winter is all about.
