Here’s a slick new deal that was just announced yesterday by one of the upcoming players in the new world of Stock Photography.
Photoshelter has now made available their Photoshelter Widget that is compatible with a multitude of formats from Email, Blogs, Social Networks to Websites. You can insert this Widget into any of the mediums you choose and it will not only display a continuous loop of your photographs that you have on Photoshelter, but anyone can copy, send and share this widget with others.
That means once you post this Widget, say on you homepage, you no longer have the control over where it goes if someone decides to forward or copy it.That means your distribution and exposure potential has the possibility of reaching many more viewers. The nice thing is that all the images are watermarked and when the photo is clicked you are directed to Photoshelter’s page that contains the image for sale.
The guys at Photoshelter are really ramping things up. The design of their site and ease of use for Photographers clearly shows that they see the writing on the wall in the Stock Photography business, and I think they will be one new companies leading the way when the dust settles.
The Stock Photography model has changed dramatically in the industry and major companies like Getty and Corbis are finding that there old way of business no longer fits the mold. Unfortunately they have a major challenge to rearrange their business without destroying it. Other newer companies that have recently emerged are adapting quickly and Photoshelter is one who will stand to gain if they can keep in the direction they are going.
I think this recent innovation from Photoshelter is brilliant and I will be curious to see how others follow suite.
