Gates of the Mountains

These are a couple images from the Gates of the Mountains area along the Missouri River. This is probably one of my favorite places to visit along the river and if you haven’t had a chance, you should check it out. Whether by motor or paddle, it’s an amazing trip through not only the geological history that surrounds the river itself, but a journey back in time when Lewis & Clark were paddling upstream through this wild canyon.

There are still Native American pictographs along the cliffs and abundant wildlife that visit the river. Bighorn sheep, Black Bear, Deer and a ton of birds including Bald Eagles.

So if your looking for a good place to paddle for either a day trip or weekend getaway on the Missouri, this is hard to beat.

Subaru with Kayak

My Prijon Kodiak kayak sits atop my Subaru. Kayaking or Canoeing this area of the Missouri gives you the best seat along the river and it’s slow current allows you to explore at your own pace.

Seeley Lake

Just got back from a quick trip up to the Seeley Lake area and it’s looking awesome up there. Of course I did a little paddling while I was up there and explored around Seeley Lake and the Clearwater River area. Tons of wildlife out and of course I left my long lens at home. I should know by now that I should just expect to see killer wildlife shots if I continue doing that.

However I was paddling, so decided to pack light. Still it was great to be out for some R&R this weekend.

Also took a beautiful hike over to Morrell Falls and man is there a ton of water coming down right now. Also was devoured by some seriously mean mosquitos as well. They were out in full force up there this weekend and just brutal.

Beargrass is also out in force. Looking just magical and I think it’s going to be a banner year in the area.

That’s all for now. Will have some more stuff coming next weekend.
