My friend Bob from Fishtail, Montana took this shot two days ago coming over the Beartooth Highway in Montana. It’s almost July for crying out loud!

Noticed my blog posts are starting to space out some…Here are a few shots from close to home. In all the years I’ve lived in Helena, I’ve never photographed Park Lake, which is just about twenty miles south, back in the mountains. Pretty lake and great spot close to town. One thing that is apparent up there is the beetle kill has ravaged most of the trees around the lake. It’s an unfortunate epidemic in the west and especially around this part of Montana. Hopefully we will see a decline here soon.
On a plus note, fall is definitely here and looking fantastic. I hope to have some fall photography shots in the next week or two, so stay tuned…

Was up in Glacier this last week for a family trip and a friend and I snuck out for a couple mornings to see what was happening around the park. The weather was just perfect. There was a low pressure system moving in and really stirring things up. This unstable, stormy weather is my favorite, it makes for wonderful mornings.
If you’ve read my previous posts in September, you might remember that it’s one of my favorite months for visiting not only Glacier in Montana, but other areas of the state as well. The colors are just beginning to turn in some areas, the crowds are dying down, and the weather is cooling off, giving us a break from the summer heat.
It looks like this Fall could be a good one, but I should knock on some wood as last October we had a massive cold front that took us down to 10 degrees(f) and destroyed all the fall colors across the state. Hopefully we won’t be repeating that. I was camped out during that spell last year and it was damn cold!
In the next couple weeks, I should have some new Fall Photography to post.
