The first day of Spring?

March 20, 2008 by Jason Savage Leave a Comment

Old Montana Homestead

Well you’d think your first day of spring would be minus the snow-but not so….

Spring kicked off today with a nice blanket of snow covering the rockies. Not what we were expecting to wake up to. I guess that’s what makes counting on Montana’s weather to be a sure uncertainty.

Not to fear though, our Spring storms can make for great photo ops and especially when we start getting dumped on with that heavy wet snow. Look for cool patterns on trees or plants and go for the abstract.

With only maybe a month or so to go before things start getting green, most photograhers in the state start getting the jones about now, at least I know I am. I snuck out the other day and did a lot of driving, I mean a lot. Did some scouting of some locations and got lost down many of Montana’s forest backroads.

Needless to say, I didn’t find anything inspiring, but it sure beat sitting in front of the computer editing photos.

So not to worry, a few more weeks and things will be rolling for Spring photography. Unless it decides to snow again….
